Premium Grade A Catappa (indian almond) leaves are used to condition the water by releasing tannins that help buffer the PH for nitrifying bacteria, this beneficial bacteria helps to break down wastes in the water preventing the accumulation of ammonia and nitrite that are harmful. Additionally the catappa leaf has anti-fungal properties that keep it from rotting and further promoting the natural cycle of water that tadpoles, shrimp and betta fish all rely on in such small bodies of standing water.
